Beloved (Belonging #1) – Corinne Michaels – 4 Stars

Beloved

SYNOPSIS

Not enough.

Catherine Pope has never been enough. Every man she has ever loved abandoned her—from her father to her fiancé. She finally accepted the fact she would never be enough to hold any man’s heart and soul.

Then Catherine met Jackson Cole.

When her world literally collided with the sexy former Navy SEAL, everything she always believed is turned upside down and left scattered. He made her feel alive and desirable, consumed her with fierceness and loyalty—which completely unnerved her. Jackson got her in a way no one ever had, giving him the power to destroy her.

If she breaks down and gives him what’s left of her battered heart—will he protect it? Or will Catherine become an irrelevant part of yet another man’s life?

Will she get the one thing that has always evaded her – to finally be someone’s beloved?

REVIEW

I stumbled upon this book via Laurelin Page, she was stopping over at a release party for Beloved at Corinne Michaels release party.  I honestly didn’t even join in on the release party fun, I just read the blurb and one clicked it immediately.  I was NOT disappointed at all.  I promise no spoilers ahead, but I just finished this book and can’t wait to share this with all of you.

Catherine has had a rough past, but she’s witty, smart and beautiful.  She is getting over a bad breakup and Catherine is trying to get herself back together again.  Then one night while out she falls into the lap of Jackson.  There is an immediate attraction between Catherine and Jackson but Catherine runs off.  Fear not, that is not the last we see of Jackson.  Jackson is hot, sexy, sweet, romantic, smart and a former Navy Seal.  He has a wonderful family and friends who he considers family.  He is fighting demons as well, demons that he fights to keep at bay but still fight their way into the present.

They each have their own issues that they are trying to work through, but they are good for one another.  You can see it as they smile more and as  they can’t keep their hands off one another.  You can see it as their emotions wreck them when they are apart from one another.

I flew through this book and I’m not going to lie, I even teared up at a few parts.  I was so involved in Cat and Jackson’s relationship.  I think because I can relate to Catherine and her fears, but I appreciate how Jackson is always there and never letting her go.  It’s an intense book and I will tell you that if you do choose to go forward with this book you may be as anxious as I am for the next book.

Kneel for Me (Part 1)

“Remove your clothes. Kneel in the center of the room.”  Your dismissive, cool tone ignites a burst of excitement in my stomach that jets straight to my pussy.

Quickly I shed my clothes and shoes, folding them and laying them in the corner.  Racing to the center of the room I gracefully kneel ignoring the flaring pain in my knees. Focusing only on my desire to please you.  I lower my head, my long black hair a curtain around my face, my eyes heavy-lidded face downward and my hands fall gracefully to my thighs awaiting your command.

I feel your presence as you circle my body. I feel as you drag the leather of my favorite crop up my spine and I straighten for you.  I hear your deep hum of approval and a small smile graces my lips.  Your hand wraps around my hair, arching my head back into a punishing kiss into which I have no choice but to submit to your lips, tongue and teeth as they assault my lips over and over again.  As you pull away I glance at your fiery eyes and am mesmerized by the desire that you show me.

“Up,” you command.  One simple word and my thighs clinch in anticipation of what is to come.  Slowly I raise to my feet and face you. Ready for my next command.
