REVIEW

NAKED

I have read both Kink vs. Class and Grinding in Greenville and I have to say that this book by far is my FAVORITE. The girls have grown up but are still as close as ever. You can tell that they have matured through their writing and the experiences that they are going through. It’s still the same girls, but they handle things a little bit different this time around.

I HATE spoilers, in reviews, so I won’t give them, but I’ll give you a little synopsis.

Haylie has The Daily Grind but things aren’t always as they seem. Not to mention an old flame comes back into play and their time together will have you fanning yourself and wishing you were her!

Victoria is finding herself and coming out of her shell and I absolutely LOVE it. I love watching her and Jake’s relationship blossom and grow. She’s becoming sexier and more confident and doing things she’s never done before.

Marley is Marley, what can you say about her? She’s finding herself and a new passion. Her persistence and passion to help not only herself and those around her, make it fun to watch as everything unravels around them.

It’s hot, sexy and a book that is not to be missed.

REVIEW

teaser

I liked this book, to be perfectly honest, I had just read a book that made me ugly cry and this was a welcome reprieve.  I would definitely recommend this book to those that are 18 and up, just due to the content within the book. It’s hot and steamy and not really appropriate for a younger audience.  It’s the first book in the series and didn’t end on a cliff hanger, which was nice, but it still leaves the reader with the hope you’ll be getting more.

Jess, has a past and she’s on the run from it. She has no friends and doesn’t try to put herself out there to make any.  She wants to leave her past just where it is, in the past.  Hunter is a private investigator and his business is on a quick downward slope.  Someone hires him to get close to Jess and figure out what she’s hiding.

The more time they spend together the more they begin to question their choices.  Should Jess really have to be alone, maybe she can trust people again.  Hunter begins to believe that people aren’t always what they seem, while others are exactly what they are, sweet and kind.

As the book continues you’re thrown into several twists and turn.  It will definitely hold your attention and have you wondering what will happen to Jess and Hunter when the smoke clears.

REVIEW

You know when you get a book, then you get to the end of the book and you think to yourself what the hell, I need book two and I needed it yesterday, because it’s just that good?  That was this book for me.  I was immediately hooked from the first couple of pages to the very end.  Bec’s life is shattered and she turns back into Becca or Rebecca anything but Bec.  Bec is dead to her, she’s not even really sure that person exists anymore and all that does is remind her of the pain of the past she’s trying to leave behind.

As she tries to move forward that means going on to college.  She ends up going to school with her brother, where she meets Keegan and Jake. (Totally Team Jake btw) Of course with everything that has happened to her, her brother, Alec, warns everybody with a dick that she is off limits.  Still even with the warning a relationship becomes to form and a close knit friendship solidified.

Nothing in life is as it seems and Becca’s life is not easy.  There are hurdles and real life relationship issues and questions that are addressed.  You’ll love people, you’ll hurt for people and you’ll ask yourself what the hell are you thinking, but in the end Gracie does an excellent job of weaving the story together.

Forewarning, there is a cliffhanger at the end that will draw some sort of reaction from you. Mine was rather vulgar, lol.

No In Between – Lisa Renee Jones – 4.5 Stars

No in Between (Inside Out, #4)

PREVIEW

The fourth in the Inside Out erotic romance series by New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones, this steamy novel resolves Chris and Sarah’s relationship and leads into Mark’s story.

“Chris and I have faced our demons and bared our souls to one another in Paris. Now that we are back home in San Francisco, I want to believe that nothing can tear us apart. Not Ava’s accusations against me to the police, or Chris’s fear that he will destroy me as he feels he did Amber. And not Mark, who was once too intimately a part of our lives, and who I can see crumbling inside out. He believes he is invincible, just as I want to believe Chris and I are invincible. We have to be invincible. We need each other too much for any other ending.”

REVIEW

This is a spoiler free review, that being said, it might be shorter than some of my usual reviews 🙂  This book again picks up where the last left off.  Sara and Chris are back state side as they wait to see what happens with Ava and the craziness that they left behind before going to Paris.  The relationship between Sara and Chris is continuing to grow and get stronger.  They are finally opening up to one another and communicating, which is good, because what is coming next, will test them individually and as a couple.

As the story continues, we finally get some of the answers we’ve been looking for, but with all the twists and turns we’ve come to love, we’re left wanting more and with unanswered questions. You’ll question characters that you knew and be introduced into new characters. If you haven’t started this series, I recommend that you do!  If you haven’t here’s a a cheat below to help you out!

REVIEW

Almost A Cowboy - Book Cover

I enjoyed this book, but I did have a few things that I wanted more of.  The first being, this wasn’t what I personally would consider a western romance.  Yes, he’s “cowboy” but I didn’t get the whole western experience, but I think that’s because the story took place away from country living. The second and last thing, is that I wished it dove into the female character a bit more.  I wanted just a little bit more depth into her character.

Okay those are all the negatives.  Overall, I really did enjoy this book.  I thought that the concept was excellent. To have a man who is disengaged from his family, then have that man have to bring unknown family members together, is unique.  Then this man is given a second chance at love.  The problem, she might not be ready for love.  Their journey together is not just about joining family, it’s about finding each other as well.

The way that it was written, it was something completely different and unique. It’s not something that I have read recently.  At each stop, you meet a new addition to the family.  Each one battling emotions.   It makes me want a second book, to see how the characters develop and how they are able to grow together.  For now I recommend picking up a copy of Almost A Cowboy 🙂

REVIEW

cover 2

Hello again 🙂  First let me start by saying yes, I gave it ten stars, even though I can really only give it five stars.  But, if I could give it ten, I totally would.  There are several things about this book that you should know before I get into the actual review.  First this book is like nothing else out there right now.  It’s written by three authors and while each author’s story comes out, the way the story blends is just perfect.  It slides from story to story without seeming choppy or dropped in.  The second thing that you should know is that this book doesn’t pull any punches.  They say what they want to say, no filter.  I loved that about this book.

Okay, review time.  This book hit me on a personal level. I was able to connect to each of the characters on one level or another.  I absolutely saw a piece of myself in each of these women, whether it was the situations they had gone through, the growth they made or the attitude that they showed.

Marley is the outside the box character, she speaks her mind and does what she want.  She’s had too many people fuck with her in the past and she’s become wary and hardened.  It’s easy to see why she is the way that she is. I wish I had the strength and the humor that Marley does as she goes through life.  Haylie came from a messed up background and lost so much, but her motto kept her going. But her struggles didn’t end when she grew up, she still had a few more hurdles to get through.  I loved watching her grow through the story and find herself. Then you have Victoria.  I loved Victoria’s story too.  Victoria is thrust into a situation and she kind of just deals with it.  It’s not until the end of the story that we see the true blossoming of Victoria.

Each character was going through a different situation, but they somehow found one another and became lifelong friends.  From the minute the story starts you can’t help but be drawn in.  You root for them, you feel for them, you laugh with them and go holy crap during the sex scenes. It’s honestly easy to care for these women who are not only friends, but seem as close as sisters.

One last thing, before I go, because I know I’ve written more than I usually do.  I love that this book takes place in a situation that we can all relate too.  We’re all big book fans and this is just a peek inside the world that some of us, haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy.

I highly, highly recommend this book to all those looking for a laugh, sexy scenes and if you’re just in the mood for an overall good book.

You can purchase Grinding in Greenville at Amazon or B&N.

Marley

It had been a month of hell for me. I was one of only three overworked yet well paid event coordinators at the Raleigh conference center, and the last one hired. What does that mean? It means I was everyone else in the office’s bitch. I was the one to pick up their slack, the one who got stuck working late because I didn’t have kids and the one who was given the mega bitches because I was so good with them.

I handled all sorts of clients. I dealt well with brides and mothers of brides. I could easily ignore mood swings and mega melt downs. Businessmen loved me. I could stroke an ego like nobody else. I never received a complaint. I was born and bred for this position. But the event I was working on that day was like no other I had been involved in. The Readers Romp in Raleigh was an author signing hosted by a book blog that apparently read, reviewed, and pimped out authors they loved.

Why was this worse than a wedding? Bloggers (fan girls, as some called themselves) were the worst mothers–of-the-bride on the planet. The hosting blog’s event would be critically judged by every other blogger and book whore (raising my hand, I’m one of them) on the web. They wanted it perfect for the more than seventy-five attending authors and three hundred attendees or fan girls.

I dealt with them just fine. But the day of the event, when the authors arrived in droves, it was like the ultimate diva-fest. They bitched about where their tables were. They didn’t want to be next to the author they were originally beside because ‘she stole my storyline,’ or the ‘bitch copied my cover,’ or ‘that whore stole my model.’ Models? Male models? The brakes in my head slammed to the floor and my view on this event changed.

Hot damn! There were twenty shirtless studs in one ballroom. And being the ball handler just happened to be my job too.

I tried to refocus on the tasks at hand but in the back of my head was a reminder that today was an anniversary of sorts. It was five years ago today that I met Max.

Title: Touched by the Sandman
Author: Beverly Ovalle
Genre– Erotic Paranormal
Publication Date: March 20, 2014

Summary: ~A lonely woman’s torrid sexual dreams and fantasy partner await her as a dominant reality in another dimension~

The sandman visits those that need him, assisting them to sleep. Until one night he meets a woman that he cannot help but return to time after time. She is lonely. He comes to her as she drifts off to sleep, the man of her dreams. Awake or asleep, which is her reality?

He knows she is the one meant for him. He will find a way to make both of their dreams come true.

EXCERPT

The darkness blurred and shimmered, bringing to life a man of moonlight and darkness: Aryne. Before him Aryne could see her, lying in bed, tears of loneliness staining her pillow. She made his heart ache. He softly stepped to her side. His hand touched her face and gently pushed back her hair. He leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, turning her dreams from sadness to joy. Her body arched toward his touch as the skim of his hand, the heat of his skin traced the edges of her curves. He stepped back…and then within the shimmer of dreams disappeared.

Night after night her loneliness cried to him. Unable to resist, he came to her. Subtly he inserted himself into her dreams, into her arms. Aryne knew it was wrong. As a guide, his job was to bring sweet, peaceful dreams. But no one affected him like she had. He was unable to resist comforting her, drawing her into his arms, covering her body with his…but only in her dreams. There Aryne stole the passion from her lips, igniting an ache in his body that would not go away.

Touching her shattered him. He knew instinctively that her touch would be his downfall. Her touch could keep him here in this splinter of his world, isolated as all of the Outcasts were. Generations had gone by; those exiled had died long ago, their children mixing amongst the races of the universe.

He had tried to stay away, fearing this. He was adrift, swept away, drowning in her passion, breaths away from losing himself. Giving in, acknowledging the power she unknowingly had over him would condemn him, keep him here if she was unable to travel to his world. Very few could navigate between worlds. And this world would drain his power rather than enhance it. Even the short time he spent there took its toll on him, the drain only in abeyance when he was in her arms. Try as he might, he could not resist her siren call. Only by controlling her and the passion between them could he make sure that he would not become lost.

Lost in her. Trapped forever in her world.

He had done his best, gentling her to his hand, to his control. She knew the unspoken rules, knew the consequences. He played them out in her dreams, a dark symphony of passion and restraint. Perhaps unforgivable for a guide, but he could not resist. And just her body was no longer enough. Eventually he would capture her heart and soul.

A man of shadows, it would be during the midnight hours of her slumber.

REVIEW

Touched Sandman - Book Cover

Another erotic paranormal read for me. I have to say this wasn’t a disappointment either.  It’s a totally different genre for me to get used to reading, but I enjoyed it.  This book is about two individuals stuck in two different worlds and their desire to come together.

For as short as the story was, it developed quickly.  The plot didn’t seem rushed, but I wish the female lead character was a bit more developed.  It honestly didn’t take anything away from the story, it’s just something that I prefer.

If it tells you anything, I read this story in the span of a few hours.  It was an easy read, that left me smiling in the end.  While this is a stand-alone story, I was left wondering whether or not we would get more of the lead characters story in a second book.
